Center for Service
Our mission at the Center for Service is to empower students to combine traditional coursework with community service and experiential learning. We believe that through service not only will you be making a difference in the lives of others, but your experience will enrich your academics, strengthen your professional development and position you to be a leader on and off-campus. MCLA’s commitment to civic engagement and intellectual growth is reflected in the 2,256 MCLA volunteers who devoted 18,195 hours to community service and service learning during the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 academic years*. This website is designed to provide you with information on what service programs currently exist, how to get involved and how to create your own service programs. To speak with someone about specific programs or general questions about the Center for Service either contact Spencer Moser at spencer.moser@mcla.edu, or 662-5251 or use the contact info provided for each program. We also encourage you to visit our offices on the third floor of the Amsler Campus Center- 308 and 307. *- volunteers include students, staff, faculty and some volunteers may have been counted more than once if participated on more than one activity.
