"What really drew me to the College was the fact that I knew I would get a lot of ‘real world’ experience. My hands-on experience was invaluable. MCLA supports its students, doing what it takes to get them into new experiences that will later prove to be stepping stones into a career."

NORTH ADAMS, MA - Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts’ Berkshire Cultural Resource Center (BCRC) and Northern Berkshire Creative Arts (NBCA) will continue its co-sponsored “Tricks of the Trade: Talks for Artists” on Thursday, Feb. 7, 6-8 p.m., at MCLA Gallery 51.

The lecture, “The Business of Art,” is free and open to the public with pre-registration.

“The Business of Art” will address taxes and administrating the business of art, which are often last on the list of concerns for the visual artist, according to Veronica Bosley, program coordinator of the BCRC.

Understanding the tax code is necessary to take art from a hobby to a business, since artists benefit from a number of deductions.

MCLA Gallery 51 is open daily, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, 413-664-8718, or go to [ http://www.mcla.edu/Gallery51 ]www.mcla.edu/Gallery51
