Commonwealth Scholar Presentations
The Honors Program graduated two Commonwealth Scholars in Spring, 2006: Ithai Larsen and Melinda Sheehan. Each of them made a public presentation to complete their project. Ithai Larsen's project, "Comparative Study of Public Relations Strategies of Presidents W. J. Clinton and G. W. Bush vis-à-vis Iraq" studied the methods used by two consecutive national administrations to cope with the facts emerging from the Iraqi challenge in the '90s.
Melinda Sheehan's study, "Nadine Gordimer and the Writer’s Duty: Using Fiction to Tell the Truth about an Oppressive Society" examined the techniques used by the Nobel Prize-winning author to dissect the social and ideological divisions in pre-apartheid South Africa.
