MODL Teaching Assistants
The department of Modern Languages at MCLA offers Spanish, Italian and French student the unique opportunity of working as Teaching Assistants (TAs) in the language classroom. This opportunity is often available only at the graduate level in almost all colleges and universities in the U.S. Students receive 3 credits by enrolling in MODL495 (Teaching Assistantship in Modern Languages), and assist the instructor of the course by fulfilling duties such as: collecting and checking student workbooks, recording attendance and grades as well as facilitating discussion in class. Generally, Modern Languages TAs are advanced-level students (or natives) of French, Spanish or Italian. They receive extensive training by Modern Languages professors before they become TAs. Usually, students who receive a TAship in the department are committed to helping others, and often have an interest in pursuing a teaching career. For further information, please contact Prof. Graziana Ramsden (gramsden@mcla.edu).
