Roselle Chartock


B.S. from Skidmore College

Roselle K. Chartock, a Professor, teaches graduate and undergraduate education courses as well as courses within the Honors Program and the First Year Seminar. She previously taught high school social studies for fifteen years as well as elementary and middle school for five years. Dr. Chartock has done major research on the Nazi Holocaust and co-edited an anthology of readings on that subject that has been published under the title Can It Happen Again? Chronicles of the Holocaust. She has lectured, given workshops and written articles for educational journals on interdisciplinary approaches to teaching, how to teach about tolerance, curriculum and instruction, global education, portfolio development and other topics related to teacher education. In 1986, she was recognized by the state education department in Massachusetts for her curriculum in the area of integrating music with the study of history. Dr. Chartock inaugurated a public access television program, "Conversations in Education," that present the community with insights into controversial educational issues on both the national and local levels. The program is broadcast once a month in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, during the academic year. She also has organized and directed study-tours to countries that are of current interest culturally and/or politically.
