"Transferring to MCLA was one of the greatest decisions I ever made. Being able to learn from and connect with the faculty and staff equipped me with greater networking capabilities/skills and the opportunity to use them outside of the institution, preparing me for the road ahead. Taking part and engaging in different clubs and organizations on campus helped to shape and guide me for countless opportunities."

Majors, Minors, Teacher Licensure

Students who want to change their major, declare a minor or licensure program will begin the process at Advising Services. Forms are signed by the chair of the new major department and returned to our office. Students with general questions about majors, minors or licensure programs can meet with an advisor in our office for more information.

Advising Services maintains flow sheets for all major programs offered at MCLA. Staff members can provide general information about majors and the teacher licensure process. As of September 2005 all students pursuing teacher licensure will complete a dual major in Education along with a major in the arts and sciences. Students declaring a dual major in Education will be assigned an Education advisor in addition to their primary major advisor. Licensure requires completion of an arts and science major, the second major in Education and passing scores on the three parts of the Massachusetts Teacher Educator Licensure (MTEL) examination.

Students who want more information about majors can meet with an advisor in Advising Services.
